Emotional Literacy
What is Emotional Literacy?
Emotional Literacy is an important part of communicating emotions to others and having the ability to express emotions appropriately.
Why is it important?
Being able to communicate well with a wide range of people is essential for every person in a successful community.
How do we help children develop it?
We offer a variety of ways to support children in developing their Emotional Literacy throughout the school. This can include working in full classes, in small groups and in individual sessions. We run sessions on developing self esteem, raising confidence, developing independence, developing anger management strategies and a peer support group where the children support each other with developing coping strategies. These sessions are run by teaching assistants who already work alongside the children and are delivered in a fun, "hands on" way.
How can families be involved?
We encourage grown ups to share and celebrate their children's work and achievements with us. We will be holding informal get togethers where we will invite grown ups to come and have a cup of tea, a chat and share their children's achievements.
